Bridesmaide dress shopping

Picking colors for your wedding is much much harder than I thought. Even harder is picking colors for a Christmas wedding, it must not clash with red and green. I also didn't want every wedding picture to scream CHRISTMAS when I looked at it. I have been going through many different color schemes in my head. Originally right off the bat I wanted champagne colored dresses... but one little problem my mother and sister didn't love the idea. They loved black dresses with red shoes inspired by this picture in a bridal magazine:

This is very classy and cute and I loved it but could not wrap my head around the idea of my colors being black and read. I kept envisioning myself telling people "Oh yes my colors are blood and death.. oh I mean red and black." It felt Gothic to me and my vision for my wedding was more whimsical and romantic. Disclaimer I love the look of black bridesmaid dresses.... but they just were not what I had dreamed of. Here is a a picture of champagne bridesmaid dresses to give you the idea of what have been thinking of:

Simple but elegant :)

Champagne is exactly what I envisioned and it meshes well with red and green (keeping in mind my wedding is a Christmas wedding). After talking it through with my mom and sister( and showing them this picture) They agreed that champagne is the way to go.

I have not found the right bridesmaid dress yet but have tried on some dresses with two of my bridesmaids (my cousin and Charlie's sister). Here are some pictures of our fun trip:

My favorite style

Keep in mind the dresses will be ordered in champagne color.

These dresses are also a favorite, they come in champagne as well.

Well hopefully next post on bridesmaid dress shopping will come with less indecision and more decision. we do have one thing for sure champagne is the word :)

The proposal, plan, and running!

Hello!!!! I can't tell you, this blog thing has been a long time coming for me. I am so excited about what is going on in my life right now that it was impossible for me to go on any further without sharing it with the world! so a lot is happened this year and I'll do a quick catch up/intro post to fill everyone in on the past few months.... and here it goes:

The Proposal:
Charlie and I have been together for almost five years( here we are)

and it was no surprise when he popped the question in November 2011.We were at my family cabin on Whidbey Island and he got down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring. To top of that fabulous day a pod of Orca whales began to jump right out in front of the cabin. We were pretty sure that was a good sign ;). It was the fairy tale I had always dreamt of.

The Plan:

So little did I know my mother had all ready stepped up to her mother of the bride (MOB) ditties. She had been making calls and getting quotes since the day Charlie had asked my parents permission to ask me to marry him. We got to work and went to wedding shows, hit the wedding websites and read the bridal magazines. Together we decided the main details:
The church: Villa Chapel
The Venue: Seattle Golf Club
The date: December 22nd 2012

Oh and Charlie approved  our plans.

Personalized wine label with our wedding date!!!

The Running:
How does the running come into this whole story? Well at the end of January Costco had a wedding event that showcased all their services that they could provide for your wedding including their latest addition : wedding dresses. As I tried on the Costco wedding dresses I felt unhappy with what I was looking at. I am a very confident comfortable person, happy with who I am....But  I saw my whole life ahead of me if I stayed at my size that I was. I envisioned myself unable to run after my future children. It was like a switch in my brain went off. It was time to get moving. It was time to runaway from the unhealthy pounds that nursing school and lack of activity had brought on. Time to run towards life and everything that marriage holds in the future.

I happened to drive by Always Running which is a gym/personal training/ running coach. I pulled over and signed up that day and haven't looked back.
-How far I can run without stopping: 2 miles
-How many lbs lost: 25
-How many pant sizes down: 2
-Fastest mile: 11 mins 30 secs

Hopefully by reading this blog you will be entertained,  inspired, and maybe laugh a little as you join me on my journeys in my running shoes and to the altar!
